Pet Surgeryin Washington Park
Whether planned or unexpected, surgery can feel overwhelming, but having a trusted team to guide you through every step can make the process feel calmer and more manageable. The Neighborhood Vets provides a wide range of in-house soft tissue procedures, with a focus on safety, communication, pain management, and a smooth recovery. Every surgery begins with a thorough conversation, so pet families feel prepared and supported from start to finish.
Soft Tissue Surgery
From routine procedures to more advanced needs, our
highly-skilled veterinary team approaches every case with careful planning and individualized care. Common surgeries include mass removals, spays and neuters, gastrointestinal procedures,
oral surgery, and emergency foreign body surgery.

Minimally Invasive Laparoscopy
Whenever possible, minimally-invasive options are offered through laparoscopic surgery. This technique uses smaller incisions and a tiny camera for excellent surgical visualization. It results in less tissue trauma, reduced post-operative discomfort, and often a quicker recovery.
Laparoscopy is frequently used for procedures such as:
- Spays
- Lap-assisted gastropexy
- Organ biopsies
- Lap-assisted cryptorchid neuter
Orthopedic and Advanced Soft Tissue Surgery
For more complex orthopedic and specialty soft-tissue cases, a board-certified surgeon provides care right in the clinic. This approach allows families to stay in a familiar setting without traveling to a referral hospital.
In addition to specialty care, Dr. Engmark is trained in advanced surgical procedures, and the entire team has years of experience performing emergent surgeries, including splenectomies, cystotomies, and foreign body removal.
